How we verify

Every swap on Same Fabric is reviewed before it goes live. Here is what that review covers.

  1. We compare listed materials and construction

We put the branded piece and the alternative side by side, using what the sellers list: fabric composition, weave and finish, and how each is made. We call it an exact material match only when the listed materials are the same. We don’t lab-test products.

  2. Reviewed before it goes live

We review each match against both listings before publishing it. As the team grows, a second reviewer approves each match.

  3. Prices are recorded

We note both prices by hand when we publish a match, and every swap shows the date and the stores they were listed on. We show a saving only when there is a real one, and the store’s price at checkout is the one that counts.

  4. Differences are called out

If the alternative is missing a detail, like a toggle or a pocket, the design checklist says so. Every match is labelled exact, very close or similar.

Questions

Is the alternative the same product without the logo?
No. It is a different product from a different maker. We match it to the branded piece on materials, construction and design, and we say where the two differ.
Do you inspect the clothes in person?
Not yet. Today we compare what the brands and stores publish about each piece. Hands-on checks are something we plan to add later, and we will say so here when we do.
Can a brand or store pay to be shown?
No. We may earn a commission when you buy through our links, but it never changes which alternative we show or the order we show them in.
What if the price at the store is different?
Our prices are the ones listed when we published the match, and they may have changed since. Always check the price on the store before you buy.
